Sleeping Dogs Done! Sep. 20th 2007
Written by Gordon Carroll

Yoo Hoo! I just finished my first Mystery Novel, and it only took me four months. On top of that I had a blast writing it.calvin2

It’s a Phillip Marlow style P.I. Mystery, written for a Christian audience. The hero, Gil Mason, is an ex-canine handler who was fired from the Sheriff’s Office after his wife and daughter were brutally murdered.philip_marlowe

The story takes place in beautiful Colorado against the backdrop of some of the State’s most exciting features such as Red Rocks Amphitheatre, Coors Field redrocks(the baseball stadium home of the Rockies), downtown Denver, gorgeous Colorado Springs, the foothills and the great Rocky Mountains, to name a few.

Gil writes a series of Christian Mysteries as a hobby. His protagonist, Pastor Robert (Bob) Conseque, is everything Gil isn’t. Poised, quiet, peaceful, meticulous. But Gil’s always trying to improve, he considers himself a work in progress, and learns from experiences and God along the way.

He gets help from a myriad assortment of old friends from his police and military corvette_bitesuit_jimmydays. And if that isn’t enough, his back is always covered by Max and Pilgrim, his K9 partners.

It’s a fast paced action packed thrill ride as a ruthless cooperate billionaire (ala Bill Gates) has a teenager kidnapped and murdered. Gil must find out why the boy was taken and how to get back the dead boy’s father (Tom) and baby sister (Amber) who were also kidnapped, before they meet the sameaimg_4789 grizzly fate.

Gil has demons of his own. He’s been having nightmares about his daughter’s murder, and when five-year-old Amber is kidnapped he begins equating saving her to saving his own daughter, which he was unable to do.

In the end, Gil must rely on his own quick wits and equally quick fists and guns,ca0p67w9 as well as his K9 partners, to win the day and put to rest his own ghosts. But the odds are stacked against him. The billionaire has a small army at his disposal, led by a cold blooded ex-DEA agent who has no qualms cayti48nabout torturing and killing to get what he wants. Still, what’s a score of killers, a load of guns, and billions of dollars, up against you, when you have God on your side?

I just finished writing the Pitch for Sleeping Dogs and now I’m working on Synopsis. After that comes the easy part—getting it published (LOL).

Okay, enough playing around here, back to work.
