Do you know what the moon is made of?" That's the first question asked of the bound captive, whose answer could mean the difference between life and death—for him. Is his captor a genius or a psychopath…or perhaps something far worse?

Find out in Gordon's story The Mirror which featured in the April 2005 issue of WildChild Magazine.

farsideWow, a new year and new writing challenges. I’m getting ready to start sending Sleeping Dogs out to agents and editors. The synopsis is finished and I’ve done three complete rewrites and about five partial rewrites of the novel. I think it’s ready.

Plus I just finished a short story with my lead character from the novel, Gil Mason, which takes place before the novel and involves one of the characters from Sleeping Dogs. Themax title is A Dog Returns and the time line is prior to Gil getting Max (the grumpy K-9) from Germany. But a younger K-9 Pilgrim (also from Sleeping Dogs), is there to help save the day. The story gives some clues into Gil’s past as well as many of the secondary and even minor characters from Sleeping Dogs.

I will be posting the story here at gordoncarroll.com in the very near future for all to read.

Also I’m about a third of the way through the second novel with Gil and Max and Pilgrim. The working title is Old Dogs and the story takes place in Jefferson County, Colorado, up by Idledale, and starts out with a dead cop holding one of Gil’s coins in his hand (Gil uses SWAT type bronze coins instead of business cards—”They cost a little more, but they last forever"). It’s moving along nicely and I’m having fun writing it. So, check in soon for the new story where you can begin to get acquainted with Gil, his canine partners, and the rest of his friends (and enemies), before Sleeping Dogs is even published. That way you’ll have a head start on figuring out what makes Gil tick before anyone else.
